Football Queensland Wide Bay has today confirmed the details of the 2021 FQ Community Cup for Wide Bay participants, which will kick off on Monday, 20 September at Maroochydore FC on the Sunshine Coast.
The major five-day event will welcome more than 500 junior boys and girls from across regional and South East Queensland, with one zone to be crowned FQ Community Cup Champions.
“Wide Bay is excited to be part of the FQ Community Cup in 2021,” said General Manager – Central Coast Region, Andy Allan.
“Tournaments such as the Community Cup provide young players with a fun and challenging week of football.
“I’m confident our Wide Bay teams will relish the occasion, particularly after last year’s tournament was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.”
Wide Bay Club Ambassador – Coaching and Talent, Adrian Elmes, said the Community Cup will be a terrific opportunity for regional players who weren’t identified for Skills Acquisition Phase or the Talent Support Program.
“The Community Cup is a great chance for young players to compete at local representative level against other regions,” said Elmes.
“FQ Wide Bay is currently recruiting coaches and players for all age groups, so we encourage all interested to register now.”
The cost to participate is $250 per player which includes a tournament jersey and bag. Coaches and participants are required to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
Trials will be held on Monday, 12 July at the Fraser Coast Sports Precinct and Wednesday, 14 July in Bundaberg, with final trials for shortlisted players taking place on Wednesday, 21 July.
