MINIROOS (ages 3-9 & 5-11)
MiniRoos is a nationwide initiative which uses short, game-based sessions to help kids of all abilities learn new skills, become active and make life-long friends.
Core values of teamwork, cooperation, fair play and respect for others are at the heart of all MiniRoos programs.
Three streams exist for kids to get involved within MiniRoos: Kick-Off, Club Football and Girls-Only.
Kick-Off is the introductory form of the program for ages 3-9 and is held across three playing windows – Pre-Season (January to March), Winter Season (April to August) and Post-Season (October to December).
Whereas Kick-Off largely welcomes beginners, Club Football is tailored towards boys and girls aged 5-11 who are ready and want to join a team. Games continue to be small-sided with modified rules promoting inclusiveness, engagement and technical ability.
Girls-Only allow young girls to build confidence while learning the basic skills of the game without the added pressure of performing in games against other teams. At present, one Girls-Only site is operating in Queensland – girls also have the opportunity to form girls-only teams within Club Football and play against other girls-only teams.
